Real bride Emily in her silk chiffon bespoke wedding dress

Welcome, lovely reader, to a feast for your eyes and inspiration for your soul…. one of the most beautiful, summery and inspiring wedding, which perfectly reflected our gorgeous bespoke bride Emily’s vision, when she married Sam in the South of France last summer.

The warm French sunshine shone down on Emily’s delightful flowergirls in ivory dresses, who carried lavender bouquets and wore lavender in their hair…

From the moment she began getting ready, you can see how relaxed and at ease Emily felt… inspiration for a very well-planned and idyllic day.

When Emily and I first met to chat about her ideas for her gown, she explained she wanted a soft, romantic dress and was drawn to the light and delicate quality of silk chiffon as her main fabric.

The setting was beautiful – every detail in the wonderful warm and mellow medieval town of Grimaud, reflected Emily’s vision.

It takes a fun and creative bride to bring together such a stunning and original combination of simple features and decorations to make the relaxed look and feel on the day.

A gorgeous selection of lavender and pink roses, fresh citrus fruits to flavour the refreshing drinks on a hot day, all helped to create the airy and natural look of the table and to enhance the setting.

Friends and family mingled easily in the warm afternoon, enjoying the couple’s arrival at the reception in a helicopter, followed by a fabulous outdoor feast.

The Dress

Emily’s design began by incorporating elements from the Couture Kit collection, and the style perfectly complimented her stunning and curvy figure.

She tried on samples at our Surrey boutique, in order to be sure the silhouette was exactly right. We added a silk chiffon and a halter chiffon overlayer at the top of the gown, which Emily designed herself and we subsequently added to the collection, as you’ll see in the image of the app, above. We then sketched the gown so Emily to help bring the design to life, and to add the individual details which made it unique to this creative bride. The fabric was supplied by James Hare Silks, one of my best suppliers of gorgeous quality silk in the UK.

If Emily has inspired YOU to design your own dress, then do try our simple online app below, and send us through your design at the click of a button. We can’t wait to see your ideas, and hope to be able to meet up at our London or Surrey boutique to explore your ideas further, create a sketch for you, look at fabrics, and then make your dream gown.

From the very start, Emily said she wanted a blue bow with long tails at the back of her dress, and this worked perfectly in the soft pale blue silk chiffon, which complimented the fabric of her design.

Sam looked so happy and relaxed in a natural linen suit, and his groomsmen were in a darker blue. Guests had a selection of brightly coloured parasols to hand, should they need some shade. The bridesmaids looked serene and summery in flowing pale blue dresses, whilst the charming page boy co-ordinated with the groom in his stylish natural linen suit.

From me to you, Emily – thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous day – it was a JOY to work with you and I loved every minute of making your gown. xx

In Emily’s words…

“Getting a bespoke dress made allowed me to have the dress of my dreams – literally! I didn’t need to alter my vision to fit in with what was available. I watched what was in my head become a reality, and I adored it…”
