Surrey bride lace wedding dress

“I’m so glad I chose to have my wedding dress made by Caroline Arthur. I felt completely at ease from the start and the end result was the perfect dress, which I helped to design, making the wedding day even more special.”

These lovely words were from my bride Louise, who was getting married to Christian, at their local church in West Clandon – the Church of St Peter and St Paul, and contacted me to find out about having her dress custom made.

In terms of the ‘feel’ of the day, both being in our early forties we weren’t looking for lots of bells and whistles or anything formal...”

We wanted a very relaxed occasion where we would bring together our family and friends for great food and lots of laughter…”

It was a real village occasion – we were married in the church in our village, with the wedding breakfast in the village pub, The Onslow Arms.

“...and then a further 60 guests (mostly friends from the local area) descended on the member’s club across the road to party into the small hours.”

Louise’s dress was a silk lined strapless boned dress, with a soft fishtail crepe skirt. The bride chose a guipure lace for the shoulder straps and embellishment on the bodice, and a simple crepe ribbon tie at the waist.

The gown was so lovely to make – beautiful fabrics, a simple design, and perfect for this relaxed, elegant bride. As a designer, I loved seeing how Louise used my dress-designer CoutureKit app to create her own style.

Thank you so much, Louise, for sharing your wedding. I hope this might inspire you, lovely reader, to think about having your gown custom made? Do get in touch if you’d like to chat further at info@carolinearthur.com
