Lake District wedding – REAL BRIDE Jennifer

This graceful bride, Jennifer, married Dan in early December, wearing a breathtaking restyled dress which we deconstructed and customised from an original preloved @phillipalepley couture gown.

Jennifer first brought me her pre-loved gown wanting it tailored to fit, with some changes to the neckline. As time went by, she fell joyfully pregnant, so we restyled it significantly into the maternity wedding dress you see here.

Jen’s dress was such a pleasure to work on. Couture designer Philippa Lepley is known for creating beautiful silk gowns, and to restyle this one to suit a growing bump, was an unusual task.

Jen’s ideas were lovely and we worked together to find the perfect balance between allowing comfort and retaining the elegance and timeless beauty of the original gown.

The ceremony took place in the beautiful county of Cumbria, in the Lake District, UK, just before Christmas.

You can see from the silk bridal mask, Jen and Dan were married in the time of COVID, but nothing was going to stop their perfect day.

Jen chose a soft blue velvet ribbon to trim the empire line waist of her dress, which sat just above her beautiful bump, covered with soft sheen lycra and lace applique overlayer to blend into the design of the dress.

Caroline created my dream dress, effortlessly and calmly adapting fittings and design to allow for not only the lockdowns, but the news that I would be 6 months pregnant with twins at the time of the wedding.

The dress was beautiful, the dream gown I had initially imagined with every couture detail, but adapted to safely encompass my bump and stay miraculously comfortable on the day.

Fittings were a highlight of the year, both the (socially distanced) fittings at her beautiful studio and the hilarious zoom sessions necessitated by the lockdown. I can’t thank Caroline enough…”
