Sophie’s Dream gown in rose silk organza

If there is ever a bride to inspire individuality, Sophie is the one!

We first met in 2015 when she was planning her wedding at Gate Street Barn in Surrey. Her decision not to buy off-the-rack, but to look for a dressmaker, reflected her desire for something truly unique. She wanted a gown that fitted perfectly, and when you see the dress we created together, you can imagine, there is no other dress like it…absolutely one-of-a-kind.

Summer bride, Sophie, had a clear vision for her bespoke gown from the moment I met with her…a fitted boned bodice with full skirt in “some kind of flowery fabric”… That was enough to get started and as it turned out, this was truly a collaboration from start to finish!

Sophie’s lovely mum came to some of her appointments and added her ideas for the gown, until together we arrived at the rouched design with flower detail and many-layered skirt. Every detail was thought through…the dusky pink of the covered buttons picked up the colour of the flowery silk organza perfectly. It started with a simple design from the app, shown here…

…and continued until we had ticked everything on the wish-list, even down to inserting unseen pockets on each side. Well…you know how it is when you don’t know what to do with your hands and you just like pockets! Why not? it’s your wedding dress!

Making Sophie’s dress was so much fun…she embraced the possibilities of having a custom-made gown and threw her personality and charm into every detail. The gown reflects her taste and personality perfectly, and in my quest to inspire individuality, I slept well the night Sophie picked up her gown…mission accomplished!
